BACKROOMS
FOUND FOOTAGE
You noclipped out of reality. Now there's only wet carpet, buzzing fluorescent lights, and whatever else got in here with you.
Step 1 — the server
No port number needed. Cracked accounts are fine — use the same name you use on Ironvale, or the whitelist will refuse you.
This is a Fabric pack, not Forge. It has nothing to do with Mightypear — different loader, different mods, separate world. Don't mix the two mod folders.
Step 2 — get the pack
Everyone must use this exact build
All three downloads contain the identical 47 mods, built straight from the
official .mrpack. Pick whichever suits your launcher — you'll match everyone else
either way.
Smallest. Downloads the mods itself. Use this if you can.
Download .mrpackSelf-contained instance. Use if the .mrpack import fails or you're offline.
Download .zipJust the mods + configs, for TLauncher / SKlauncher / official launcher.

Easy path
Prism Launcher
- Install Java 17 — let Prism fetch it if it offers.
- Add Instance → Import → pick the
.mrpack(or the Prism.zip). - Launch it, then add the server
backrooms.parallex.in.
Memory is preset to 4 GB. Don't raise it past half your system RAM — on an 8 GB laptop, 6–8 GB starves the OS and makes framerate worse.

Manual install
None of those can import a modpack file, so the mods go in by hand. Grab Backrooms-FF-1.0.8-mods.zip for this — not the Prism zip.
- Install Java 17.
- Install Fabric for 1.20.1 — loader
0.19.3. Get the installer from fabricmc.net/use. Fabric, not Forge. TLauncher can also install Fabric from its own version list. - Open
.minecraft— Windows%appdata%\.minecraft, macOS~/Library/Application Support/minecraft, Linux~/.minecraft. - Empty any existing
modsfolder, then copy this zip'smodsfolder in — you should end up with 47 jar files. - Copy the
configfolder in too. The pack needs those settings to behave correctly. - Set memory to 4 GB and launch the Fabric 1.20.1 profile.
What you're installing
What's inside
The core is Minecraft Backrooms Found Footage by SpacePotato — the real mod, 2.28 million downloads, at its current version 1.1.8. This pack is onr23's curation around it, which is the most-used Backrooms pack on Modrinth.
- The Backrooms itself — levels, entities, the found-footage camera.
- Simple Voice Chat — proximity voice, already included. Press V to pick your mic. Hearing someone breathing down a corridor is the point.
- Sound Physics Remastered — real reverb and occlusion. Do not play this without headphones.
- Enhanced Visuals + horror messages — the atmosphere layer.
- Performance set — Krypton, VMP, ModernFix, FerriteCore, EntityCulling, ThreadTweak, ImmediatelyFast, BadOptimizations.
32 of the 47 run on the server; the other 15 are client-only (visuals, HUD, menus). You install all 47 — that's normal.
When it breaks
Problems
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Server shows OFFLINE above | It's manual-start. Ask an admin to bring it up. |
| Crash on startup, or mods not loading | You installed Forge instead of Fabric. This pack is Fabric 1.20.1. |
| "You are not white-listed" | Wrong username — use your Ironvale name exactly. |
| Kicked on join / mod mismatch | Your pack doesn't match. Re-download from this page; don't add or remove mods. |
| Crash right after "Loading mods" | Old mods left in .minecraft/mods. Empty it and copy ours in fresh. |
| Terrible FPS | Drop render distance to 6–8 first. This pack is heavier than vanilla. |
| Nobody can hear you | Wrong microphone. Press V and pick the right input device. |
